Temperature Logger Made on the PCB

This picture shows a version made just before the one for the Maplin Electronics and Beyond magazine December 1999. It uses the Dallas DS1615 chip to record 2048 temperature readings at multiples of one minute intervals. The lithium battery should last for 10 years provided you don't use the LEDs.

The temperature range is -40°C to +85°C ±2°C in 0.5°C steps. The FREE software you can download from this site programs the functions of the DS1615 and reads the recorded data to draw graphs or make the data available for use in a spread sheet.

This screen shot from the logger program shows some data collected during the cold weather in December. The logger was outside running on its lithium battery and was brought in later to unload into the computer program.

You can zoom and pan around the data to see more detail. The tables can be saved to a file which allows you to put them into a spread sheet or word processor.

There is also an alarm display for when the temperature goes below a lower limit and above an upper limit.
